Product Update: Z-Series v4.4.0
We’ve released version 4.4.0 of the Z-Series software for the RSP-Z2 and the Z-Series Controller.
All users can download software version 4.4.0 for the RSP-Z2 and Z-Series Controller completely free of charge.
Key Features
This release of the Z-Series software emphasizes the operator’s interaction with the user interface, adds capabilities like DTMF injection, and improves optional encryption.
User Interface for You
You’ve probably noticed that even though our resource tiles have been large enough to drag and drop easily, they take up a lot of room and reduce space for resource identification like name or connection status. Release 4.4.0 changes that.
- Personal Preferences for every user. By login username, every user can now choose their own Personal Preferences. As you review the preferences, you’ll probably find that the medium and large horizontal shapes provide you with the most useful information about a resource, what it is, and what it connects to.
- RX/TX Linger is another new addition with this release, and is also a personal preference. Rather than quickly extinguishing RX (COR) and TX (PTT) indicators on resources, this linger can help you keep track of activity on busy systems.
- Resource Groups on the Z-Series Controller let you create personal or global groups for resources. Much like Favorites, these groups let you purposefully collect resources so you can easily access them.

Distinctive Resource Graphics
When you configure a resource, you may now choose a resource accent color and a resource graphic that you can customize.

Dialogs to Do More
The horizontal resource shape significantly expands resource capability and the information available to you on the Home page. Resources can have longer names, connection information can be posted, and new pull-down dialogs let you do even more – including DTMF injection.

More Encryption Possibilities
Optional encryption has been available with license on JPS RoIP and JPS Bridge resources for quite some time. Release 4.4.0 adds the encryption capability on MCC Console resources connected to MCC-8 and MCC-12 Consoles running software version 1.0.21 or higher.
This 4.4.0 release also helps you determine if or when audio that is supposed to be encrypted actually is not. Now, when a resource that is configured for encryption receives unencrypted audio, the resource will play a static noise so you know right away that there’s an error.
The options for encryption keys are significantly increased and include many more types of characters. This is to enable more secure encryption keys.

And Yes, Minor Changes, Bug Fixes, etc.
A blog post can’t relay all the updates to the Z-Series 4.4.0 software, so we encourage you to download it and check out the full release notes.
