We’ve released version 4.2 of the Z-Series software for the RSP-Z2 and the Z-Series Controller.

Building out the Z-Series Controller’s strengths as a wide area management system is a focal point of release 4.2, which also pays special attention to improvements to the user experience and system audio coordination.

Improve Connectivity
Version 4.2 improves communications on congested, wireless, or less reliable networks by providing user-selectable TCP connectivity options, including outbound port selection on the RSP-Z2. The stability this addition provides to systems managed by Z-Series Controllers also allows another key feature of this release: centrally managed remote software updates.

Update Your Managed Units Remotely
Directly from the Z-Series Controller platform, prepare and push software updates to managed RSP-Z2s in your system. Along with saving you time and making updates more straightforward, version 4.2 now posts automatically detected remote settings, such as a remote RSP-Z2’s IP address, WAN IP, LAN identifier, and messaging port for an improved understanding of network topology.

Work Efficiently
Posting remote auto-detect settings is just one of many user interface improvements to 4.2 that make the system easier to set up and manage. To name just a few more: consult help text while actively using the system, select and use Recorder resources (RTP and SIP) easily as part of a consolidated menu that unclutters nets, hide resource icons you’re not actively configuring, and select resources for configuration from the icons displayed in the left panel.

Keep Adding Capabilities
The TASSTA Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) resource type has been added to the RSP-Z2. A SIP User Agent field is now user-configurable, for applications where that is desired. New cable profiles have been added, and the JPS RoIP connection to some legacy JPS equipment has been improved. Backup, Restore, USB Reset, and Network Troubleshooting capabilities and tools are now easier to understand and manage.
