Z-SERIES CONTROLLER

SCALABLE INTEROPERABILITY SOLUTION

From a simple audio hub to a scalable and robust interoperability system manager, the Z-Series Controller™ provides the framework for tightly woven yet highly distributable wide area communications solutions.

Use it to share audio with all JPS RoIP products, such as the NXU®-2B™, ACU®-M™, or ACU®-Z1™. For even more versatility and robust distributed system scalability, utilize it with RSP-Z2™ gateways to unlock the benefits of JPS Unity, available on these two Z-Series products.

JPS Unity-capable systems take the guesswork out of setting up and managing wide area interoperability systems, while still giving you lots of system-level control. Once set up, Unity systems provide clean, on-demand audio routing and connectivity through automatically created JPS Talkpaths.

Independent of Unity, capabilities like the JPS RoIP+® protocol and resource type, light, multi-user dispatch, monitoring by non-dispatch resources, and resources for streaming to an RTP or SIP recorder give the Z-Series Controller broad appeal.

Uncomplicated Versatility

Needing only a single IP address and HTTPS encryption/security capable, the Z-Series Controller is easy to set up and manage from any modern browser, including on a smartphone or tablet. Up to 80 (24 on a standard system) IP-based JPS RoIP+, JPS RoIP, JPS Bridge, RTP, SIP, or MCC Console resources may be configured on one Z Series Controller.

Extending beyond its locally configured resources, the Z-Series Controller intelligently manages distributed RSP-Z2s and the resources – even radio and PoC – on those gateways. Resources from distributed RSP-Z2s do not consume any of the 80/24 Z-Series Controller’s own resources.

The Unity feature set shared by the RSP-Z2 and the Z-Series Controller provides you with the opportunity to make the most of the robust wide area systems, distributed audio connections, remote resource configuration, and general ease-of-use that these two device types provide. View, use, and even configure RSP-Z2 resources, prepare and push software updates to remote RSP-Z2s, download log files, and more – all directly from the Z-Series Controller user interface.

Advanced Features

Drag and drop resource icons into and out of nets to patch audio from local and distributed resources.

User-designated Favorite resources and customizable groups make it easy to keep track of your most used or most important resources. Favorites and personal groups are user specific, so every user can have their own. Shared groups can be used by everyone logging onto the system.

Helpful features like system-level and resource-level SIP configuration, troubleshooting tools (even for distributed RSP-Z2s), configurable NTP servers, DTMF injection, and a test tone for resource setup save time and streamline operation.

Browse to your Z-Series Controller with confidence using HTTPS. For your audio, JPS RoIP+ comes with AES-128 encryption. Optional ChaCha20 and AES-256 encryption can be licensed on JPS Z-Series devices for JPS RoIP+, JPS Talkpaths, JPS Bridge, JPS RoIP, and some MCC Console audio streams.

Configurable Backup and Restore settings, and selectable Reset Configuration settings on the Z-Series Controller and the RSP-Z2 simplify maintenance.

Dispatch, Monitor, Broadcast, Record

Multi-user light Dispatch delivers a versatile solution when a full dispatch console is not required. A user with dispatch capabilities can use any available resource to dispatch from – not just a USB headset or MCC Console – and more than one dispatcher can be logged in at the same time. Each dispatcher uses their own chosen resource to participate in one-way (listening) or two-way (listening and speaking) communications with resources in the dispatch area. The Dispatch area may be minimized when not in use.

Monitor groups provide one-way listening. A number of monitoring groups can be created, each with a designated monitor and any number of monitored resources. As with dispatchers, any configured resource – local or distributed – can be a monitor. For convenience, monitor groups may be minimized and named.

Broadcast groups complement Monitor groups, offering one-way broadcasting to members of a group. Like Monitor groups, a number of groups can be created, broadcast to, and local and distributed resources can be used.

Additionally, the user interface facilitates recording net and dispatch audio. This function provides the operator the ability to stream conversations in interoperability nets or the Dispatch area directly to a third-party RTP or SIP recorder for non-evidentiary recordkeeping and playback.
